Enjoy cooler and healthier neighbourhoods
Trees, gardens and green spaces make our neighourhoods cooler, healthier and more enjoyable places to live.
They provide shade on hot days, help absorb rainfall, provide habitat for wildlife.
Add more green space where you can
Adding more green cover is a practical climate action.
You can plant a tree, create a garden bed, grow vegetables, add planter boxes to a balcony or introduce potted plants to paved areas.
Protect the green cover we already have
Existing green cover is valuable. Preserving and caring for trees, shrubs, and gardens already in place is an important climate action that's easy to take.
Avoiding unnecessary clearing and removal is key to keeping the climate resilience we already have.
Exceptions to this include removing vegetation to reduce bushfire risk to buildings, removing dying or otherwise dangerous large trees, and clearing weed species.
